Exploring Lake Havasu

A fun part of being Stateside is being able to explore some places close to home that I have never been before. Last week I was able to go on a bit of a “glamping” experience with my parents on Lake Havasu.

The weather was perfect for a few days of camping and jet skiing on the lake with the water temperate staying around 75F. This was the first time my parents had taken out their new RV and I was shocked at how cool it really was. Growing up we camped, but never with a fancy RV so we felt extra spoiled on this trip (and future trips). We considered it a “glamping” trip!

We found the perfect camping spot on Lake Havasu at Cattail Cove State Park. We got a perfect spot close to the water and enjoyed our views of the water and the mountains. Cattail cove has a private launching pad, loads of trails, private beach and even a dog beach. It was a great place to have a boat or jet skis, because of the easy access to the water and no extra fees for leaving your boat in the water.

I feel like a lot of couples have their “thing,” like a sport or activity they like to do together. For my parents it is jet skiing. As long as I can remember, whenever my parents had a weekend away they were always on the lake. It was fun to see them in action and enjoy jet skiing on the lake with them. A special part of Lake Havasu is that there are mini lighthouses all over the lake. Each lighthouse is a mini representation of other actual lighthouses across the country. They put up these lighthouses to help with navigation on the lake at nighttime and also for an added tourist attraction. Each unique and a fun scavenger hunt to find.

Lake Havasu is a 45mi long lake that sits on three different states: California, Arizona, and Nevada. It is also home to the original London Bridge. Lake Havasu City has a cute little “London” theme to it with red phone booths and quaint little shops. There is a no wake zone through a little channel that runs through downtown and under the London Bridge. All through this channel is a hot spot for mooring your boat and enjoying more of the party scene of Lake Havasu. If the mooring party is not your scene the lake is home to some other adventures whether it is rock climbing, hiking, cliff jumping, bird watching, or fishing.

All in all Havasu was a great camping trip and a fun time spent with family. We are already planning our next trip once Nash arrives. If you are an avid camper and or jet skier then I would highly recommend checking it out and especially trying to book a spot at Cattail Cove.

Cheers,

P.S. What are some of your favorite camping spots?
